Thankyou aka Eckhard Roberts
Aemon Burst
Ortega
Ro Tain
The team meets up with Evan Parris at a fancy restaraunt in downtown Cara’Sir. Ortega refuses to go in, having been treated poorly in the elven nation. The rest dress up. Parris hires them to go poach a series of reagents from High Prince Larry Zincan’s private preserve, adjacent to a nearby national park. They agree, and are introduced to their guide, Ballard. They enjoy a ludicrously fancy vegetarian meal and head out.
Ballard picks them up the next day in an RV with 5 offroad bikes strapped on back. TY buys an additional bike, just in case, hoping to return it unused. They get into the park with no problem, and park in the public area, establishing their base camp. They decide to first harvest some silver moss, and come under attack from some agropelters, agressive moss-addicted monkeys. They kill or wound a large number, and collect the moss, before returning to base.
Next they go after the grandfather elk, an old but powerful herd leader. He drives Ro off, overcome with mental horror, as she tries to line up a sniper shot. TY sends up his laser drone, as well as rigging Aemon’s bike forward, while Ortega shoots down some lesser elk that attack them. Aemon wounds the grandfather elk, with a crippling shot to the hip, and they bring it down. Ortega shares a mental link/vision of how the elk feels as it dies, and crashes his bike into a stump. Ballard harvests the antlers, and they safely return to camp.
They decide to tackle the griffins next, fearing the climb. Ortega almost flies up the cliff, with TY close behind and Ro and Aemon slowly creeping up the lower reaches. However Ortega gets spotted by a griffin, and they end up in a cliff face gun battle with 4 dive-bombing, razor-beaked birds. They emerge victorious, but lose some valuable beaks due to griffins crashing to the earth. They return to camp, and rest up an extra few days.
They take on the golden board next, and Ballard beseeches them to leave it alive, as its tusks will grow back, minus reagents, which will help protect this rare creature. They finally spot it after a half-day’s driving- it seems to be near-invisible, but not very subtle. They bring it down from a distance, and manage to keep stunning it as it regenerates long enough for Ballard to get the tusks. They return to camp, miraculously un-injured.
Werewolves last! They head to the woods on a nearby mountain where they have a hunter’s cabin. They approach on foot, attempting stealth, but Aemon notices they have some watcher spirits paying attention from the astral. TY and Ro head up the front door, as Aemon and Ortega take covering positions in the woods. A hirsute man exits the cabin and hails them. They engage in a terse negotiation, and agree to have Ballard 1/2 shave both werewolves while they alternate holding Ro hostage, in order to avoid a dangerous situation that it is unclear how would emerge from intact. Aemon notices they have a large spirit of beasts over the house in the astral as backup, and is glad they decided not to fight it out. Ro manages to get both Dolph & Daciana as a contact in case she ever needs body disposal services, also.
They return to camp, and are surprised to find a young western dragon waiting for them. He rips the door off the trailer as he shouts into their minds about their trespasses upon his lands. They briefly try to reason with him, but he seems to be gunning for a fight, and starts shooting blasts of elemental fire at them. They return fire, and he ko’s Aemon and the toasts the roto-drone before they drive him off. He takes one final shot at the trailer as he’s leaving, but TY dives in front of the blast to save the reagents. He’s heavily injured but alive, and they return to Cara’Sir and get paid. However, Evan Parris warns them that the dragon may have id’d them to the High Prince, or may soon, so he’s going to get them out of town shortly- right after they do one last job for him.
