Runners:
Thankyou aka Eckhard Roberts
Aemon Burst
Ortega
Ro Tain
The team wakes up in a hospital in downtown Cara’Sir, minus their clothes, gear, and recent memories. They remember taking a courier job from Evan Parris, him worried that he has a traitor in his organization having lost his previous courier on this run. They were told to get to the bottom of it via whatever means necessary, and thats the last they recall. They’re also not getting wireless and are handcuffed to their beds. They hear an orderly talking to 2 cops in the hall, who seem to be tagging the teams gear. The nurse enters, and while bending over TY, lets slip a scalpel and says “Hamshallow sends his regards.” They escape their bonds, and Ortega scalpels the guards in the hall while Ro gets punchy with her bone augments.
They grab their gear and load up, and start heading for the exit. Ro hooks their medkit up to the 2 cops, hoping to avoid unecessary deaths. Aemon scouts ahead astrally and sees 2 more cops coming in, and they set an ambush. Ro tries to plan it so they don’t kill them, but Aemon blows one of their heads off. They finally reach the parking lot and get wireless back, and have a message waiting from the Prince. He tells them that he’s scrubbed their arrest and will take care of any mess they made leaving the hospital, and that he’s narrowed the possible traitors down to 4. They are to visit all of them, make sure they fall in line with his control, find the missing drugs they were delivering (and got dosed with), and punish those responsible.
They visit the Souldrinkers first: a zombie/vamp themed thrill gang that posts up under a bridge when not robbing, killing, and feasting on flesh (or so the rumors go). They find the 2nd in command, Nightblade, holding court, and Ro gets really annoyed at the zombie posers. The SD’s refuse to be intimidated, but don’t seem to have any beef with Parris, so the team just injures NB and they gel round a bunch of zombies as they drive off, hoping that gets some sort of message across.
They next head to Padraig’s, a retired runner bar. The crew that runs it has a rep as being tough, but kinda stupid, so they decide to play it cautiously. However, they find them all drunk and squabbling. They still have the drugs the team earlier delivered, and don’t seem suspicious. Ro tries to inspire them to shape up in case enemies of the Prince come calling, and they seem ready to throw down, if still drunk. They are also rampantly hitting on the team, especially Ro and Aemon. They leave.
Next up: the Marchers, the current National Hurling league champs. They drive onto the filed, trying to intimidate, but the team seems amped up on combat drugs, mid-practice. They get muscled off the field, and retreat, before roaring back on and spraying suppressive gel-fire. The hurlers bash out some of the windows with their clubs, they starts shooting for real. They kill one player, and seriously wound one of the stars, while taking some minor damage from flung balls, before the team flees the field. However, the car comes under assault rifle fire from the far side of the arena, and TY picks up some racing bike engine signatures- it seems a renegade local chapter of the Ancients had stolen the shipment, and were trying to cut in on Parris’ turf.
They give chase, and see that Johnson, Parri’s missing driver, has also fallen in with the Ancients. He is firing the assault rifle from the back of 1 bike, while another has the case of drugs, and 8 more run intereference. They get into a wild chase, with the bikes making for the highway where their better speed will give them an advantage. The manage to kill Johnson, and drop the bike with drugs. TY slows down and Ortega tucks and rolls to grab it. TY rams another and Aemon kills 1 more, while Ortega finally catches up. They call Parris, and he says he will send a team to clean up the rest, and directs them to a safe lockup as the cops are on their way.
He pays them well for the inconvenience, and smuggles them back to Seattle, telling them they should probably stay out of Cara-Sir for a while til things cool down. They pay Erika Gwyn to smuggle them across the ocean, and Sergei Vipin to fly them the rest of the way to Hamburg, and finally return to their safehouse. They agree to take about a week off, and all get some various surgeries/tattoos/training. They hear about a few different job offers, and rent’s coming due again so they decide to get back to work.
