Ro Tain
Aemon Burst
Toast
Senk Gethin
and introducing: Aomame 2-Chrome
The team stocks up on gear, weapons, armor, and allies ahead of the Fenway antenna bombing mission, expecting it to be a rough one. Zoh Rothberg has provided significant upfront funds, and Ro invests these plus some personal money in a proper battlewagon, hoping it will last longer than the last. They also pick up a local face named 2-Chrome, who has worked with Smedley Pembrenton III and Ango Tyrell before. She apparently just got off a job for DJ McCarthy, helping rescue his cousin Sarah McCarthy alongside the corp-kid Aiden Wagner. Freed from Knight Errant lockup, she is back on the lookout for any info leading to the truth of what happened in Boston, and is hiring runners to dig stuff up.
The team, with 2-Chrome’s help, rally the local Ancients and the Hellriders, getting some outriders from both go-gangs, as well as some Ancient prospects to act as spearmen and gunners in their battlewagon. They meet up with the NeoNET merc’s that Zoh sent with the explosives and missile launchers. They seem like they may be clones or possibly just all very similar builds and styles of movement? Regardless, their leader very flatly tells the team that he is there to ensure the supplies are put to the proper use, and not purloined, as well as to report back and confirm the antenna’s destruction. He seems to have no personality at all.
Senk checks out the bomb, and hooks up a timer detonator, and they roll out. 2 Ancients split off to run an area jammer on the far side of the stadium to distract the headcases inside, and Toast infiltrates on foot to get a sniper’s perch. Unfortunately, that pesky high-powered vamp is still hassling them, and sets a bunch of ragers after Toast, who goes on a wild chase around the upper levels of the stadium. Meanwhile, the outriders clear the lot while Senk blows their way into the stadium with a launcher, and Ro finishing off the barricades with a ram. They barrel through, and Ro plows straight through the hordes to the center, where the antenna awaits. It looks to be complete, or nearly so, and a large number of infected are hooked up to as some sort of human computer or signal amplifier perhaps?
Ro swings the van around, and Senk and Aemon (on Buffout!) jump out the back with the bomb. Senk sets it and they dive back in the van. Ro starts plowing back through the horde, which has reformed in their path, and some ragers swarm the back of the van. 2 Ancients are pulled out, as is Aemon’s fancy medkit, which was attached to one of them. The rest of the team escapes serious injury (and hopefully infection), and they make good their escape, with Senk laying down explosive cover fire, and some help from the merc’s outside. Unfortunately, the vamp’s spirit manages to turn Ro to stone, and 2-Chrome has to break off her thumbs to crank the wheel and avoid a crash.
They clear the parking lot just as the massive charge blows out the far wall of the stadium. They’ve lost a few outriders, but feel like they came out of the whole thing in pretty good shape. They get paid, and the mercs don’t ask for the launchers back, so they hold onto them. Time to restock and get back on the vamp hunt! They decide that’s next on the list. However, Mayor Meghan Rylan has some ideas for that: she wants Ro and Aemon to reach out to the ghoul communities that the vamps are using to bolster their numbers and try to recruit them away to the Mayor’s side, possibly using the True Communion religion as needed.
Senk checks in with the various Urban Tribes who live near her hideout, Toast undergoes an initiation ritual to up his assassin game, Ro gets her thumbs put back on, and Aemon and 2-Chrome upgrade/replace some gear. Senk gains some further knowledge about Tir Taingire history while looking into her parent’s death, and feels the likeliest culprits are security forces operating under Jenna Ni’Fairra, or hardline elf supremacists from the Rinelle Te’Kesrae, who may have landed in the Laesa post-rev. Toast finds out that Teachdaire might be in town, and may be the one targeting Cecelia Velenthial, as well as asking questions about O’Connor. Her bodyguards keep vanishing. More investigating to come!
